I love Eleanor Roosevelt. Her wisdom and strength in the face of so many challenges in her life exude grace and dignity in a way that is seldom seen these days. It wasn’t until I discovered this quote of hers that I set out to learn about her live and experiences-
Do one thing every day that scares you. E. R.
It can be as simple as stepping out to help someone you don’t know, talking to your neighbor or simply leaving the house-whatever it is that scares you requires setting yourself aside to face the situation. When we take ourselves out of the picture or silence the internal ‘self’ that tells us we can’t it is easier to see what lies ahead and take that next step. Easy? No. Essential? Yes.
What scares you? What would happen if you just did what needed to be done? Do you need to write? Do you need to talk to that person (you know who they are), quit that job, ask for that job, let go, move on, step up? Whatever it is-facing the fear that holds us back will open the world before us…
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than ALLwe ask or IMAGINE, according to his power that is at work within us. Ephesians 3:20
Enjoy the AND because that is where the journey is happening-
